Carthage, NC- DiBianca Hall, the former multipurpose building on campus, is approximately 98% complete! Still to come are new baseboards and a few smaller finishing touches that will highlight our organization’s history, brand, etc., defining the room even more. Over the last 8 months, this project represented so much for Sandhills ATC. It signified a new season as a ministry, while paying homage to our incredible past and the foundation laid before us by our founders Sal & Debby. DiBianca Hall, carrying Sal & Debby’s legacy in name, is where our students dine, attend chapel, have recreation time, monthly family visitation, and graduation services. It also hosts our annual banquets where 1000+ friends and supporters gather to celebrate with us each December for our Christmas banquets! We are so excited for everyone to experience the new look and space this year!

Overall, we couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome and the most special fact about this renovation is that it was made entirely possible by those who love what we do! The project was funded by Individual donations, a local church, a few local businesses who believe in our program, a board member who helped rally support, and a dear friend, Tommy Scarboro, who not only contributed himself, but helped coordinate additional donors and arrange deeply discounted materials to stretch funding as far as possible.
Last, but not least– A special thank you is necessary to our staff members who endured months of construction and schedule adjustments. Gib Lopez and 2 current students volunteered to provide the skilled labor needed to do the job right! Without these individuals, it would have been much more difficult to complete the project on time and on budget. Steve Coleman, Brian Decker, and Alec White all coordinated the logistics behind the scenes, while Alec made sure any furniture items (dining room tables, 80+ chairs, a ping pong and pool table, audio equipment, etc. touching the new floor was protected with appropriate safeguards as to not scratch the vinyl planks. It was an all-around team effort!
As Executive Director, a project like this is meaningful to me because it not only builds up our team, but it conveys to those who come onto campus for a variety of reasons that we care for our properties and take nothing for granted. I want every donor to feel confident that each dollar given to Sandhills ATC is a wise investment. We expect excellence from our students and in return, we as a team offer them nothing less.
Additional Decorative Items Needed: To complete the space, we need to purchase several gray/charcoal colored area rugs, 2 leather-style couches (charcoal/gray) for the recreation area of the room, and a long gray runner leading from the kitchen door to the dining area.
