Exciting News! Women’s Center Director Hired!

Southern Pines, North Carolina- Sandhills Adult & Teen Challenge has an exciting announcement to make! Please join the organization in welcoming to the leadership team, Jennifer Toro. Jennifer will soon be arriving from sunny Casa Grande, Arizona to lead the organization’s first residential women’s center! She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in program operations, development, fundraising, and community service. As an ATC graduate, she overcame a debilitating 15-year addiction to methamphetamine. While a student in the program, Jennifer regained custody of her children and graduated in 2011. Following graduation, she remained with ATC, furthered her education graduating at the top of her class,  and eventually became the first alumnus to serve as lead director of the ATC Home of Hope Women’s Program in  Arizona.

Upon accepting the position, Toro shared, “I am so honored to be working with Russ Cambria and his team at Sandhills ATC!! God sure does know what he is doing. It truly is a blessing to be able to love on these woman and share [the love of] Christ! I pray for God’s direction as we do what he calls us to do! Love others back to life!!” Russ Cambria, CEO, said, “I’m very excited to welcome Jennifer to this incredible team and even more elated for our supporters to get to know her. She has a level of enthusiasm for this new work that is contagious! We are blessed to be able to announce her acceptance of this vital leadership position. April can not arrive fast enough!” Jim Lockman, an avid supporter, and friend of Sandhills ATC from Pinehurst, NC said of  Jennifer, who spoke at a local Night of Hope event at Pinehurst Country Club in November, “Everyone was very impressed with her story and dedication for the work she has been doing for a number of years. I am excited to learn that she will be coming here to be a part of this great organization!”

Cambria said that Toro will be relocating to North Carolina in late April 2024, ready to hit the ground running. Planned is a 15-20 bed women’s center in nearby Sanford, NC on the site that is currently Spring Lane Assembly of God (photo below).
